Seven years ago my partner, Michael, and I made our first trip
Since then we have returned nearly every year to explore the
different areas of your fascinating country.
We are excited to return in our official role and enjoy more of your
rich culture, traditions and hiking in the mountains.
In Spain, Mike and I plan to showcase American culture similar to
the way the first lady and President Obama
have done at the White House.
Nearly three centuries ago, Father Junípero Serra traveled to
California, where he founded several missions.
Living in Los Angeles, we visit these historic missions often and
hike the trails nearby with our three dogs.
This one, named Lily, will be joining us in Spain.
Father Junípero Serra is part of our shared history, and like him,
we are looking forward to beginning our mission in Spain.
Today, the United States and Spain are working together to build a
more peaceful and prosperous world.
I’ve spent the last several decades building commercial businesses,
from consumer goods to media brands.
I’ve managed business relationships in multiple countries.
At this critical time in Spain and throughout the E.U., I will

We can’t wait to experience more of your wonderful culture and
and most of all to work with the government and the people of Spain
to further strengthen our ties of friendship and trust.
We look forward to meeting you all
soon! ¡Hasta pronto!
