“To us, to me personally, this video is disgusting and reprehensible,” Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in reference to an anti-Islam film that recently sparked protests across the Middle East and North Africa. Clinton’s remarks came during the first session of the U.S.-Morocco Strategic Dialogue September 13.
The United States government has no connection to the film and “absolutely rejects its content and message,” Clinton said. She emphasized religious freedom and tolerance as the enduring principles that have helped guide the United States since its inception.
Clinton said the United States has the greatest respect for people of all faiths and condemns the use of violence in the name of any religion. She said “as long as there are those who are willing to shed blood and take innocent life in the name of religion, in the name of God, the world will never know a true peace.”
